Challenge Accepted

Hey all! This post is going to be a special one, because it incorporates a lot of things that I'm super jazzed about.  One of my favorite blogs, Centsational Girl, is hosting a link party inspired by Pinterest! I am going to link up with a post that involves a little DIY furniture remodel I did for my wedding. See? Favorite blog, Pinterest, DIY, paint, wedding...it's bound to be a good time.

If you don't know what a link party is, hop over to her blog, read through the post, and check out some of the links people have posted as comments.  If you don't know what Pinterest is...then you probably still get things done during the day.

The goal of the party is to encourage people to go for it and do one of the many projects that they have pinned.  Because, honestly, who hasn't sat there, pushed that harmless little "Pin It" and had simultaneous voices say, "I can so do that!" and "You're never actually going to do that..."

I totally have.

BUT.

Not today.

Or at least, not a few weeks ago.  Having the wedding come together required a lot of self-control and squelching that second little voice.  Since it was a low-budget, specific-taste affair, it involved a lot of DIY...which was awesome.  One of my favorite pieces was our altar, which my mother-in-law had the chance to snap a gorgeous picture of a little while after the ceremony:

The buffet was something that I picked up at a Goodwill early this past spring.  I'll probably do a longer post on how ridiculous refinishing this baby was, but for now, take a glance at the before:

Psh. Yeah. I'm beaming with that one of a kind, Pinned-that-and-then-DID-that pride. When I bought it, I wasn't necessarily sure what I would do with it, but then I saw these babies on Pinterest, and the dream was born:

Yep.  The backdrop to the altar decor came together with the help of my best friend's husband, my brothers, and my dad. And possibly my older brother's girlfriend...honestly there was so much going on just before the wedding, and this was in the midst of it...it was a little hard to keep track of who was doing what. Either way, it happened and I loved it.  Here's a little action shot of the buffet during the wedding, and where it sits now in our (unfinished) bedroom.

I really like it.  It's the first piece of furniture that I've re-done and, while it's not perfect, I'm quite pleased with it.  It houses the only drawers that we have right now in the entire house...so in our present condition I'm beyond pleased.

I hope you do make it over to Centsational Girl and check out some of the other ambitious Pinsters. Some of my favorites include a really cool inlay-inspired table top at Our Lake Life, this really easy painted pallet sign at The Junk House, and these cute capes at Revamp Homegoods (because kids should wear capes).  Have a fabulous day!
